Awakening happens much more often than we think. It can happen during a still moment enjoying a sunset or nature. It can happen when looking into another’s eyes. It can happen anytime anywhere.
However usually it does not stick. The peace, happiness and joy that is experienced is associated with what is outside of us. It is not recognized to be within us.
If we only looked within in these moments, it would be clear that the source of the peace and happiness is within us. Then, if one checks from time to time, in sickness and health, happiness and sadness, one can see clearly that this source of peace and happiness is always present, always untouched, always at the foundation of all.
This regular confirmation of an unchanging source of peace and happiness within us allows us to be confident in our nature as pure consciousness. Although life may draw us into its drama, we do not get too caught up in it. We see it as drama. We know that the dramas come and go, but the source always remains. The suffering associated with dramas diminishes considerably. And the natural happiness associated with being flows effortlessly. This is life after awakening.
